Improving Classroom Management: Helping Teachers Succeed

Teachers with poor classroom management skills create poor learning environments for their students and unnecessary time burdens for administrators. Administrators and supervisors are often asked to intervene with teachers who do not have strong classroom management skills, but typically have not been trained in identifying the specific causes of classroom management issues, or in intervention strategies to help the teacher overcome these problems.

This workshop presents a research-based, classroom-tested program that contains tools to diagnose specific areas of classroom management weakness, and develop and implement intervention strategies. Participants will learn to identify which of the factors that influence classroom management are missing from the teachers skills bank and will learn to crate an action plan to help the teacher acquire and implement these skills. Each participant in the program will receive an administrators guide with reproducible forms and templates that can be used in the data gathering and plan creation processes. The author of this program is a 34 year veteran of public education who uses humor and a touch of magic to help supervisors learn these techniques.
